Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Infection Control Nurse Manager to lead and advance the hospital infection control program in Cincinnati. The role ensures patient and employee safety by implementing best practices and maintaining regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate holds an RN with BSN, certification as an Infection Control Practitioner, and at least five years of progressive nursing and management experience.

Qualifications

  • RN with BSN degree is required.
  • Certification as Infection Control Practitioner is required for all RN candidates.
  • Minimum 5 years of current nursing and progressive management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and conduct the hospital infection control program.
  • Assist department directors with implementing infection control practice changes.
  • Minimize infection risks to patients and employees.
  • Ensure compliance with TJC, OSHA, and state and local health department regulations.
  • Maintain current infection control practice standards.
  • Lead administrative activities, including staff accountability, performance evaluations, meetings, delegation, and competency maintenance.
  • Design and evaluate departmental infection control programs, policies, and orientation programs.
  • Serve as liaison to the Infection Control Committee and report infection control information and problems.
  • Supervise the Epidemiology Assistant and Administrative Secretary.
  • Review aseptic, isolation, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and waste disposal practices.
  • Manage computerized data systems and develop statistical reports.
  • Develop or coordinate infection control improvement research.
  • Develop and operate hospital infection surveillance systems using microbiology, surgery, census, and other data.
  • Investigate infection clusters and unusual pathogens; analyze infection data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Report infectious diseases to local and state health departments as legally required.
  • Identify resources, support budgeting, and balance patient needs, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Consult with hospital departments, nursing units, occupational health, committees, purchasing, and medical staff.
  • Develop and deliver infection control education, orientation, and OSHA-related continuing education.
  • Maintain professional development, nursing organization membership, APIC participation, and community relationships.

Requirements
  • RN with BSN degree
  • Certification as Infection Control Practitioner required for all RN candidates
  • Minimum 5 years of current nursing and progressive management experience required
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, infectious diseases, microbiology, epidemiology, patient care practices, statistics, sterilization/disinfection practices, employee health issues, and adult education concepts
  • Management and communication skills
  • Previous work with Q/I process, policy and procedure development, and committee recommendations
  • Ability to meet regulations and standards from TJC, OSHA, and state and local health departments
  • Master’s level preparation preferred
