Mimbres Valley Medical Center is seeking an Infection Control/Employee Health/Worker’s Comp Coordinator. The role leads the hospital-wide infection control program, working with department managers to implement best practices and ensure 24/7 readiness for patient care.

Requirements include an RN license with at least three years of clinical experience, infection control training, and knowledge of Joint Commission standards. The position is full-time and on-site in Deming, NM.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of three years experience as a Registered Nurse with a strong clinical background.
• Knowledge and experience in patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration and epidemiology.
• NM Registered Nurse licensure. Certification in Infection Control preferred.
• Joint Commission Survey knowledge

Description

The Infection Control Practitioner is a professional nurse who is responsible for ensuring compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission standards relating to infection control. Reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the hospital wide infection control program. The Infection Control Practitioner collaborates with and acts as a consultant for the department managers and staff. Advises implements and evaluates measures necessary to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital and community. Serves as Nurse Administrator on-call (as necessary) providing leadership and management to personnel during off hours. Patients need care 24/7 and facility employees must be available to provide that care. Employees are to care for patients regardless of the patient’s personal characteristics.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Completes a basic infection control course within the first year of entering the position.
• Minimum of three years experience as a Registered Nurse with a strong clinical background.
• Has knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration and epidemiology.
