Job summary

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking a Web Team Manager (Manager II) to drive digital transformation and elevate CDPH’s public web presence for Californians. You will steer content, UX, accessibility, analytics, and governance across the web ecosystem from a hybrid, Sacramento-based role.

The Web Team Manager (Manager II) supports CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by driving digital transformation, elevating the Department’s digital presence, and modernizing how CDPH communicates with Californians. This position provides strategic direction for CDPH’s web ecosystem — including content, user experience, brand identity, accessibility, analytics, technology platforms, and enterprise web governance.

A visionary thinker and creative problem solver, the Web Team Manager assesses emerging trends, evaluates risks and opportunities, recommends innovative digital strategies, and leads execution of modernization initiatives. The role requires exceptional project management and change management capabilities to advance cross-departmental digital improvements and ensure CDPH delivers clear, accessible, inclusive, and engaging public health information.

The position collaborates closely with the Office of Communications’ (Comms) Media, Outreach & Education, and Administration teams; with ITSD on technical planning; and with CDPH programs to support enterprise-wide digital communication excellence.

The incumbent works under the administrative direction of the Assistant Deputy Director of the Office of Communications.

This position is eligible for telework.

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
