Uber is seeking an Engineering Manager II to lead high-performing teams building and operating large-scale distributed database systems. You will bridge bold ideas with real-world impact for millions of users, balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.
This role requires calm under pressure, clear decision making, and the ability to recruit, mentor, and grow engineers while coordinating with Product, Design, and Operations.
Leading at Uber means setting direction in motion, not waiting for perfect conditions. As an Engineering Manager II, you will be a primary engine for high-growth technical organizations, bridging the gap between bold ideas and real-world impact for millions of users. You'll lead high-performing teams in an environment that values ownership over hierarchy and measurable impact over process.
This is a high-visibility leadership role that requires a manager who stays calm in the "messy" reality of scaling one of the world's most complex technical platforms. You will move fluidly between high-level strategic vision and relentless operational execution, making hard calls on prioritization and navigating competing global priorities. If you lead with clarity, build with heart, and are motivated by solving massive organizational and technical puzzles at scale - this is where you'll make your mark.
Rate of Pay: $253,200 to $284,000 per year
