Job Description And Duties

Under the administrative direction of the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel, the Manager II supervises and directs subordinate supervisors and staff in the completion of program and administrative functions. The Manager II has direct supervisory and oversight responsibility over the following programs: Hearings Management Unit, Legal Support Unit, the Records Coordination Unit, the Privacy Protection Program, and the Administration Team. The Manager II is responsible for managing the above programs and striving to continually improve the quality of the work and efficiency of processes. The Manager II is a member of the Legal Division (LD) management team and attends weekly management meetings.

Provides oversight and policy direction over the Hearings Management Unit (HMU), Legal Support Unit (LSU), the Records Coordination Unit (RCU), the Privacy Protection Program (PPP), and Admin Team who perform administrative functions which include, but are not limited to, preparation of pleadings, correspondence, discovery, filings, and service documents, paralegal and data analyses of legal data, statutes, and case law, Public Records Act request coordination, subpoena response coordination, and privacy protection tasks. Serves as the principal policy advisor and makes policy recommendations to the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel regarding the HMU, LSU, RCU and PPP programs.

The Manager II has managerial responsibility over supervisory staff, the professional analyst staff and the legal support staff which includes: a Supervisor II, Supervisor Is, senior legal analysts, legal analysts, Analysts I, Analyst II, and all classes of legal support staff.

Responsible for directing and overseeing recruitment within the LD. Responsible for coaching and mentoring subordinate staff. Identify training needs of each staff. Plan for training opportunities and activities as needed, within the limits of budget constraints.
