Job description

Role Overview

As a Manager, Forward‑Deployed Engineer at Trinity Life Sciences, you are embedded directly inside biopharma and commercial Life Sciences teams. You absorb their hardest problems, then build working solutions fast. You move from an ambiguous business challenge to running prototype in days, not quarters, demo it, iterate live with clients, and make it better. You will write real code, own real deployments, and be accountable for real outcomes. Examples include turning a messy CRM export into a live sales‑rep‑facing AI assistant within a week, or building a RAG pipeline over 10 years of clinical trial data to answer payer questions in seconds. You also bring others with you, mentoring and coaching a group of 1–2 engineers to grow into the role.

What You’ll Do
  • Embed with clients at top biopharma and life sciences organizations: sit with their commercial, medical affairs, and data teams to surface unmet needs and translate them into engineered solutions.
  • Prototype at speed: stand up GenAI‑powered applications, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and data integrations fast enough to make a client’s jaw drop within two weeks of receiving their data.
  • Own delivery end‑to‑end: from the first whiteboard session through production‑ready code, demo, feedback loop, and handoff to product.
  • Flex between missions: move between active client engagements and product sprints as priorities shift.
  • Improve the model and our products: document patterns, share playbooks with the cohort, and push field learnings back into the product, including reusable components.
Team Development
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior FDEs: pair on hard problems, review their work, and give direct, useful feedback.
  • Help new FDEs ramp up through the onboarding path: accelerate their time to product fluency and first live pod contribution.
  • Serve as a technical sounding board when junior FDEs are stuck: guide them to solutions through questioning rather than solving.
  • Model the culture: demonstrate great client engagement, clean iteration, and knowledge sharing in practice.
Who You Are
  • Thrives on pace: compressed timelines energize rather than exhaust you; you do your best work when the deadline is real.
  • Invests time to genuinely absorb a client’s true needs before building.
  • Iterates freely, kills unproductive ideas without drama, and treats client feedback as signal rather than criticism.
  • Collaborates by default: pulls in teammates, asks for help early, and shares credit; you don’t work alone for weeks.
  • Learns fast in unfamiliar domains, cracking new industries, stacks, or problem spaces quickly before and can do it again.
  • Has the patience, directness, and generosity to mentor and coach engineers; growing others is a core contribution.
What You’ll Bring
  • 6–9 years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production‑quality systems.
  • Preferred experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams, formal or informal.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js/React.js; fluency with cloud services (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Hands‑on experience building or integrating GenAI systems: LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic architectures, or multi‑modal pipelines.
  • Comfort operating in client‑facing environments: presented to non‑technical stakeholders and navigated feedback without losing footing.
  • Experience in Life Sciences or Biotech strongly preferred: you understand the commercial model and industry goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
What Makes This Unusual

You will be a senior FDE in our incoming cohort, with direct input on how the team, its culture, and practices take shape. You will work in pods, never alone on a client; there is always a Solution Lead and domain SME alongside you. You will be onboarded intentionally: product fluency first, then shadowing, then leading, so you hit the ground running rather than guessing. Your work has a direct feedback loop to our products; the best things you build become product features, shaping how the life sciences industry operates.
