Job summary

Oliver James is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting in the Greater Chicago Area to oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes. The role requires a strong background in GAAP and financial reporting, with the ability to coordinate with accounting, FP&A, Tax, Audit and other finance teams.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of meeting reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles; plus experience with STAT Reporting.
  • Experience with month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with auditors and cross-functional finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and related reporting schedules.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable accounting standards.
  • Support GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Audit, and other finance teams.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Maintain and strengthen financial reporting controls and processes.
  • Lead process improvements and reporting automation initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting/financial reporting staff as applicable.

Employment Type: Full-Time

An established insurance organization is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to oversee financial reporting activities, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support the monthly and quarterly close process.

This role is well suited for an experienced accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience who is comfortable working across Finance and partnering with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and related reporting schedules.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable accounting standards.
  • Support GAAP and/or statutory reporting requirements.
  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Audit, and other finance teams.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Maintain and strengthen financial reporting controls and processes.
  • Lead process improvements and reporting automation initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting/financial reporting staff as applicable.
Requirements
