Job summary

Oliver James Associates Ltd. in the Greater Chicago Area seeks a Manager, Financial Reporting to oversee monthly and quarterly close processes, prepare financial statements, and ensure GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles; STAT reporting a plus.
• Experience with month-end and quarter-end close.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Experience with auditors and cross-functional finance teams.
• CPA preferred; insurance industry and statutory reporting experience a plus.

Manager, Financial Reporting

Location: Greater Chicago Area

Employment Type: Full-Time

An established insurance organization is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to oversee financial reporting activities, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support the monthly and quarterly close process.

This role is well suited for an experienced accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience who is comfortable working across Finance and partnering with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and related reporting schedules.
• Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable accounting standards.
• Support GAAP and/or statutory reporting requirements.
• Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances.
• Coordinate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Audit, and other finance teams.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Maintain and strengthen financial reporting controls and processes.
• Lead process improvements and reporting automation initiatives.
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting/financial reporting staff as applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Plus to have experience in STAT Reporting.
