Financial Management Services (FMS) is transforming how the Stanford community learns to navigate financial systems, policies, and processes. In direct support of the university's Simplify Stanford initiative, the Financial Learning Solutions (FinLearning) team is building a role-based, technology-enabled learning ecosystem that meets people at the point of need and reduces the friction of administrative work.

We are seeking a Manager, Financial Learning Solutions to lead this team and this transformation. The FinLearning Manager oversees the design, development, and delivery of learning solutions that support the overall FMS curriculum and change management efforts. The manager assesses client needs, establishes the curriculum required to satisfy business and organizational goals, and sets the standards for course development, participant and instructor materials, digital and online performance-support solutions, and learning evaluation. Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Strategy and Client Services, the role directly manages a team of senior learning experience designers, and serves as a thought leader guiding the ecosystem's evolution, powered by a modern learning management system, digital adoption platforms, and AI-assisted tools.

The Manager, Financial Learning Solutions will focus on the following areas of responsibility:

  • Manage, recruit, coach, and develop staff and departmental budget. Develop and maintain a resource plan aligned to FinLearning strategy and operational needs, including hiring and onboarding, resource allocation, staff development, and performance management for a team of senior learning experience designers.
  • Serve as a thought leader guiding the FinLearning ecosystem's evolution, integrating a modern learning management system, digital adoption platforms, and AI-assisted tools into a cohesive, role-based learning experience organized around core user personas and high-value tasks.
  • Own learning management system (LMS) strategy and administration, including platform evaluation, migration, and content governance. Provide production and post-production oversight for developing LMS-compliant, accessible courses, including LMS setup, testing, and migration to the production environment, and ensuring that prerequisite learning tied to system-access provisioning is configured correctly.
  • Provide product management for FinLearning's ecosystem of learning resources, defining business and functional requirements, curating content, overseeing user acceptance testing, and driving enhancements based on usage data and stakeholder feedback.
  • Evaluate requests for technology-based learning projects, meeting with stakeholders to understand goals, timelines, and dependencies. Assess pedagogical goals against available technology tools to recommend the appropriate modality (e.g., instructor-led, eLearning, video tutorials, web pages and quick-reference guides, in-application guidance, and AI-assisted support), and allocate the necessary team capacity to the work.
  • Partner with subject matter experts on technology-based learning projects from conception through design, production, and completion, planning and coordinating work to defined deadlines and organizing it into manageable planning cycles for resource allocation and stakeholder communication. Maintain strategic relationships with FMS business owners and apply influence as needed to ensure development plans align with business needs.
  • Oversee the appropriateness, effectiveness, and success of departmental instructional design projects and the FinLearning product ecosystem. Direct the creation of qualitative and quantitative measurement tools and methods, and build and maintain an operations dashboard that reports key metrics, demonstrates impact, and drives continuous enhancement.
  • Establish and maintain standards for online and instructor-led course development, participant and instructor materials, learning evaluations, and support request resolutions, ensuring instructional design and publishing protocols are consistently followed.
  • Manage key vendor and contract relationships, including development contractors and platform vendors, and support procurement and budgeting needs.
  • Develop learning plans based on change management assessments. Represent FinLearning in the FMS change management (CM) portfolio meetings, and act as the Learning Lead on projects with significant learning deliverables.
  • Foster a culture of high agency, and drive the continuous improvement of the team's operating procedures across all work areas, including cross-training staff in single-owner areas (e.g. LMS administration, digital adoption platforms, product and change management, and analytics).

The following are not required, but are highly relevant to the current and future state of this role:

  • Advanced degree in instructional design, learning science, or educational psychology.
  • Experience leading a learning management system implementation or migration (e.g., Cornerstone) in partnership with IT and HR functions.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into content development, measurement, and team operations, with sound judgment about data sensitivity.
  • Familiarity with digital adoption platforms such as WalkMe or Oracle Guided Learning.
  • Product management experience with learning technology or conversational / AI assistants.
  • Experience building measurement frameworks and operations dashboards, and comfort interpreting data from multiple sources.
  • Change management experience within a large, decentralized organization.
