Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Assistant Manager, Finance & Commercial Risk in Tempe, AZ, onsite. You will partner with operations and leadership to drive financial performance, manage commercial risk, and influence project decisions beyond traditional accounting.

The role involves contract reviews, negotiations, claims management, and collaboration with district leadership. A CPA is preferred, with 5+ years in finance, accounting, or risk within construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, commercial risk, or related experience.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Ability to review contracts and identify areas of financial and commercial risk.
• Experience with project accounting, contracts, claims management, commercial risk, or construction operations preferred.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operations and leadership teams to support planning, decision-making, and business performance.
• Assist with financial reporting, forecasting, business planning, cash flow management, and working capital analysis.
• Support contract reviews, contract drafting, and negotiation activities.
• Identify and evaluate commercial risks across the project lifecycle.
• Participate in bid reviews and assist in assessing project risks and opportunities.
• Support claims management, insurance administration, bonding activities, and risk mitigation efforts.
• Assist with compliance initiatives, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements, and operational best practices.
• Support the development and growth of finance and commercial risk functions within the district.

Vaco is partnering with a large, employee-owned construction organization to hire a Manager, Finance & Commercial Risk. This role offers a unique opportunity to move beyond traditional accounting and become a strategic business partner supporting financial performance, commercial risk management, contract negotiations, claims management, and operational decision-making.
