Job Summary

The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Manager, Events Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the planning and execution of various events held at our venue. You will work closely with the event operations team members to ensure seamless event experiences for all stakeholders. This position holds responsibility for overseeing all operational aspects of various events, including NBA team games, concerts, family shows, religious shows, seminars, sporting events, ice shows, corporate shows, and other scheduled activities. Overall, as the Manager, Events Operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and overall satisfaction of all arena events.

What you will do: (Responsibilities)

  • Coordinate, monitor, and supervise the planning and execution of all assigned events held at the arena in accordance with responsibilities. Collaborate closely with all event operations team members.
  • Manage relationships between the Arena, clients, promoters, partners, and vendors.
  • Participate in regular departmental meetings to communicate necessary information.
  • Evaluate rigging analysis for concerts/shows or request structural analysis from an approved Structural Engineer and enforce bridal plan.
  • Work within the Venue Ops program to ensure proper info and documents/SOPs are followed for assigned events.
  • Disseminate event communication plans through documents and meetings.
  • Construct shows using AutoCAD based on production notes and develop stage build drawings and instructions for staff.
  • Conduct pre and post event building walks to ensure safety and readiness, documenting damages and reporting issues.
  • Document and report any equipment or work defects relating to the building or events.
  • Serve as primary contact with Atlanta Hawks, promoters, and event reps, and prepare expense estimates for settlements or invoicing.
  • Coordinate and conduct site surveys for future events to address operational barriers.
  • Ensure facility readiness and client satisfaction while maintaining safety and policies.
  • Attend internal meetings and assist in booking by discussing arena events.
  • Interact with Customer Service to resolve conflicts.
  • Disseminate event outlines covering setup, access, parking, security, and other needs.
  • Manage the Box Office on sales maps and production changes impacting seating.
  • Serve as POC for assigned events, coordinating with other departments and MOD.
  • Oversee execution of all elements for concerts, sports, and shows including technical needs, parking, emergency services, and more.
  • Gather and prepare costs for billing and settlement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years of event management experience in a professional sports venue preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD LT required.
  • Strong self-motivation, responsibility, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups and build relationships.
  • Follow instructions and respond to management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to client satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Venue Ops.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including long and odd hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in extreme weather, and stand for long periods.
  • Work in loud environments as needed.
