Job summary

The City of New York seeks a highly experienced prosecutor for a management role in the Domestic Violence Bureau. The position supervises staff across DV and related units, trains attorneys, and coordinates with external agencies to advance high-risk prosecutions.

Requirements include a J.D. degree, NY bar, at least 5 years post-J.D. experience, and extensive domestic violence trial experience. Salary commensurate with experience and role.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active New York State bar in good standing.
• At least 5 years post-J.D. experience.
• Experience working with domestic violence victims using trauma-informed approaches.
• Extensive felony trial experience in domestic violence cases.
• Strong collaboration with outside agencies.
• Prior management or teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Domestic Violence Bureau and Animal Cruelty Unit staff.
• Train DV Bureau attorneys in best practices and ethics.
• Manage new case assignments and personnel resources.
• Create schedules for assignments and Grand Jury.
• Present regular briefings to the District Attorney.
• Approve negotiated pleas and review indictments.
• Handle a curated caseload of active prosecutions when appropriate.
• Oversee the PROACT-DV Unit to prioritize victim safety.
• Coordinate with Queens Family Justice Center and other agencies.
• Confer with defense counsel and courts; second seating trials and hearings.
• Respond to night/weekend warrants and charging decisions.
• Support DV prosecutions by performing subordinate tasks.
