The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced prosecutor and effective people leader to serve as a Supervising Assistant District Attorney in the General Crimes Bureau. The ideal candidate will bring strength in seven core areas: legal and case supervision, courtroom and litigation development, attorney coaching and professional development, caseload and performance management, people leadership, bureau operations, and ethics and culture.

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced prosecutor and effective people leader to serve as a Supervising Assistant District Attorney in the General Crimes Bureau. The ideal candidate will bring strength in seven core areas: legal and case supervision, courtroom and litigation development, attorney coaching and professional development, caseload and performance management, people leadership, bureau operations, and ethics and culture. This role is designed for a prosecutor who can balance high standards with strong mentorship, exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment, and help ADAs build the skills, confidence, and the professional foundation necessary for continued growth within the Office.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide guidance to ADAs throughout all stages of a case
  • Assess attorney readiness for increased responsibility and provide appropriate opportunities, supervision, and feedback as ADAs advance from misdemeanor practice to grand jury presentations and felony casework
  • Conduct case conferences and provide guidance on charging decisions, discovery, motions, plea negotiations, hearings, trials, sentencing, and case disposition
  • Coach, mentor, and support the professional development of ADAs, providing regular, constructive feedback on legal analysis, prosecutorial judgment, courtroom advocacy, case management, and professionalism
  • Observe ADAs during court appearances, hearings, and trials and provide practical guidance to strengthen litigation and courtroom skills
  • Review and monitor caseloads to ensure cases progress appropriately and comply with discovery obligations, statutory deadlines, Office policies, and ethical requirements
  • Identify training, performance, and development needs and work with Bureau leadership to provide appropriate coaching, resources, and support
  • Assist with attorney assignments, court coverage, scheduling, workload distribution, and other day-to-day Bureau operations
  • Participate in Bureau and Office-wide training, mentorship, and professional development initiatives
  • Foster a professional, collaborative, and accountable work environment that supports attorney development, engagement, and retention
  • Maintain an appropriate caseload and handle or assist with complex, sensitive, or significant matters as needed.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and initiatives as assigned that advance attorney development, strengthen Bureau operations, and further the Office’s mission of Pursuing Justice with Integrity
Qualifications
  • A Juris Doctorate degree required
  • Admission to the New York State Bar required
  • U.S. Citizenship and New York State residency are required as of the first day of employment
  • 4+ years of trial experience or the equivalent experience required
  • Strong knowledge of New York criminal law and procedure, including the Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Rules of Evidence, CPL Article 245 discovery requirements, and applicable ethical obligations
  • Demonstrated sound prosecutorial judgment and ability to analyze complex legal and factual issues
  • Demonstrated ability and genuine interest in teaching, coaching, mentoring, and developing attorneys
  • Demonstrated patience and ability to explain legal concepts, litigation strategy, and prosecutorial decision-making clearly and effectively
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and establish clear expectations
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, oral advocacy, and courtroom skills
