Job summary

The Hillman Group is seeking a Manager, Distribution Center to lead all DC operations, including receiving, order picking, staffing, safety, inventory, transportation, and shipping, to meet company objectives and customer requirements.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in high-volume semi-automated distribution centers, and proficiency with conveyors, RF scanning, and inventory/transportation management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years’ experience in a high-volume distribution center.
  • Experience with conveyors, RF scanning, and pick-to-ship container methods.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and transportation management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to managers and supervisors to ensure policy adherence and objective delivery.
  • Analyze facility layout and workflows to identify and implement improvements.
  • Manage budgeted operating and capital costs and achieve performance metrics.
  • Promote safety by enforcing procedures and training staff.

Job Summary

The Manager, Distrubution Center provides leadership and direction to the entire operation, specifically including receiving, order picking, staffing, expense control, safety, inventory, transportation, shipping and maintenance to ensure the achievement of company objectives and customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions
  • Leadership and Direction Provides direction to line managers and supervisors to ensure the consistent administration of policies and the delivery of established objectives, maintains sound employee relations by developing and maintaining a strong and cohesive management/supervisory team that works professionally with employees within the facility and communicates regularly with staff to provide information, answer questions, and address issues.
  • Planning and Implementation Analyzes facility layout, workflow, and operating results to identify and implement opportunities for improvement, research errors/discrepancies; takes action to resolve issues.
  • Accountable for the Delivery of Corporate and DC Specific Assigned Metrics Develops recommended operating and capital budget; manages operations within approved budget and continually seeks cost saving opportunities, ensures economical utilization of materials and labor, ensures facility performance objectives are met or exceeded relating to all operational metrics, and internal and external customer service.
  • Safety Ensures facility follows related safety regulations, works with safety management and facility management team to develop and delivery function specific training, and incorporate safe practices into all facility activities, takes proactive measures to identify and minimize risks.

Education & Experience
  • Required Bachelor’s and 5 plus years’ experience in high volume semi automated distribution center.
Competencies – Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Experience in a facility that uses conveyers, RF scanning, and pick-to-ship container methods preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of inventory control and transportation management.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Windows. Able to learn and use in-house software applications.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to lead and motivate employees by guiding, training, and offering counsel.
  • In depth knowledge of complex automated distribution.
  • Proven ability to manage change.
  • Ability to forecast future needs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Fast-paced, standing on concrete floors up to 8 hrs/day. Exposure to loud noise. Functional vision and hearing required.
  • Heavy lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs
