Job summary

Job description

The Disposal Manager plans, direct and oversees residual material management and property disposition operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant handling, storage, and disposal of residual production materials, surplus property, and solid waste. The disposal manager ensures decontamination, demilitarization, waste handling, and disposal activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations while meeting organizational and customer requirements.

As the Disposal Manager here’s the work you’ll do:
  • Direct disposal of residual material and property after funding, to include disposal certification documentation. Responsible for collection and disposal of solid waste refuse, contaminated trash, and decontamination of excess metals, equipment and tooling.
  • Oversee special information generation and decontamination requests from Program Managers to include providing estimated disposal costs to support internal decisions and customer disposition actions This includes transfer requests from old contracts to new contracts.
  • Utilize MRP key process indicators and data including eBOM, attrition rates, planned orders, etc. to determine production demand and drive disposal strategies
  • Direct assigned activities in support of scrap sales and recycling program actions. May include generating disposal documentation (such as PCARRS) for Government property to track disposal actions and oversight of direct labor on demil/scrap activity.
  • Maintain sound financial practices to ensure safe and compliant waste disposal operations within defined budget constraints.
  • Maintains familiarity with and trains subordinates in applicable waste stream regulations. Coordinates with Environmental department to ensure compliance with appropriate RCRA permits.

  • Communication-ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, business periodicals, government regulations, contracts and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, customers and the general public.
  • Problem Solving-ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Able to solve practical problems involving multiple variations.
  • Project Management-ability to handle multiple duties simultaneously. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills-knowledge in Microsoft Office, SAP, Power BI; AI applications and other software programs. Ability to train others in use of these IT systems.
  • Business/Financial Accument-ability to prepare/understand basic budgets and cost constraints. Understands goal setting and need for continuous improvement.

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required.
  • Associate’s Degree (AA) Preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing/industry Required.
  • Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, which includes the gold or black star in the upper corner OR current passport, indicating it is federally compliant.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to collaborate with team members is essential for contributing to a cohesive work environment.
  • Successful completion of a background screening process is mandated for all candidates.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is$76,640 - $114,960 annually. Please note that this range is not a guarantee of compensation; final offer amounts may vary based on experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on the date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
