Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking an experienced Clinical Cytology Lab Manager within the Surgical Pathology Division of the Department of Pathology. You will lead daily operations, manage human resources, budgets, quality programs, safety initiatives, and accreditation efforts, and participate in administrative decisions as part of succession planning.

You will perform primary screening of gynecologic and exfoliative non-gynecologic samples, train cytotechnologists in fine needle aspiration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology, Biology, Medical Technology or related field.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology as a Certified Technologist.
  • 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of the clinical cytology laboratory.
  • Manage human resources, financial and budget planning and preparation, quality improvement, safety programs, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures related to technical, operational, and administrative areas.
  • Perform primary screening of gynecologic and exfoliative non-gynecologic samples; train cytotechnologists in FNA service and adequacy assessment.
  • Maintain CAP continuing education materials and credentialing statistics; participate in administrative succession planning.

Position Summary
Functions as the Clinical Cytology Lab Manager within the Surgical Pathology Division in the Department of Pathology; leads and oversees daily operations, management and customer service within the clinical cytology laboratory; manages human resources, financial and budget planning and preparation, quality improvement, safety programs, compliance program, successful inspection and accreditation processes; ensures adherence to current policies and procedures related to technical, operational, and administrative areas of the laboratory. Performs all aspects of primary screening of gynecologic and exfoliative non-gynecologic patient samples; trains all cytotechnologists in fine needle aspiration service and adequacy assessment on touch prep biopsies; maintains all CAP required continuing education materials and participant documentation, oversees/maintains all monthly department statistics required by credentialing agencies; is included in many administrative discussions and decisions as a part of succession planning for the future.


Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology, Biology, Medical Technology or related field. American Society for Clinical Pathology as a Certified Technologist. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
