Summary of Responsibilities

• Directs the custodial staff in the correct performance ofduties. Hires and ensures the training of full-time custodialstaff. Manages the custodial staff emphasizing safety, security,good public relations, and following departmental custodialprocedures.
• Evaluates staff performance and provides progressivediscipline. Evaluates procedures, labor distribution, supply usage,performance, and results.
• Directs equipment repair, vehicle upkeep, furniture set-ups andmoves, lighting replacement, and reporting of maintenance needs toinclude furniture replacement.
• Manages and controls budget, purchasing, billing, costanalysis, testing, labor costs, and other budget requirements.
• Coordinates supply chemical and equipment testing; analyzesresults and upgrades as necessary. Understands and uses computers,custodial equipment, and other equipment necessary to completeduties.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degreeplus three to five years of related experience, including two yearsof supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination ofeducation and/or experience related to the Summary of Dutiestotaling at least seven years.

• Bachelor's degree + 3 years of related experience, including 2years of supervision.
• OR Bachelor's degree + 5 years of related experience, including2 years of supervision.
• OR Associate's degree + 5 years of related experience + 2 yearsof supervisory experience (7+ years total).
• OR 7 years of progressively responsible related experience,including supervisory experience, in place of a bachelor'sdegree.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Knowledge of custodial practices, machinery, and relatedequipment.
• Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering andinventory control.
• Working knowledge of floor care, chemical usage, safety, andgeneral custodial techniques.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing,prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safetyprocedures.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
