Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or equivalent) and at least six months of related experience.
• Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal.
• Knowledge of pest control and body fluid cleanup.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and floor types.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Secure doors and windows of all areas and buildings.
• Assist in emergency procedures, recycling, and pest control.
• Maintain and clean restrooms and various surfaces.
• Maintain offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, dining areas, and a ballroom.
• Maintain halls, stairs, elevators, entryways and lobbies.
• Manage custodial closets and storage areas.

In this position, you will perform a variety of custodial services, including floor care, carpet maintenance, restroom cleaning and restocking, and general facility upkeep. Your work will directly contribute to the daily experience of students, employees, and visitors while providing the opportunity to develop valuable skills in facility maintenance, safety practices, and responsible handling of cleaning products and materials.

This role offers the consistency of a dedicated Tuesday-through-Saturday night-shift schedule, with no participation in the university's regular annual rotation process. Team members benefit from a stable work routine, a supportive work environment, and the opportunity to make a visible impact across the UVU campus. The scheduled hours are Tuesday through Friday, 4:30 pm to 1:15 am, and Saturdays, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, with occasional event-related adjustments that may require a temporary later Saturday shift.

• Responsible for securing doors and windows of all areas and all buildings.
  
• Assists in emergency procedures and assists in recycling and pest control.
  
• Helps the campus and facilities maintain good public image by providing a safe, clean, comfortable environment conducive to learning for students, visitors and employees.
  
• Maintains all type of floor surfaces, fabric surfaces and upholstery.
  
• Maintains and cleans restrooms, including porcelain and stainless steel surfaces, walls, floor drains, floors, etc.
• Maintains offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, dining rooms, food preparation and serving areas, and a ballroom.
• Maintains halls, stairs, elevators, entryways and lobbies.
• Maintains inventory and cleans custodial closets and storage areas.
  

Graduation from high school (or equivalent) and at least six months of combined post-high school education and/or directly related full-time experience.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of training in the proper use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and products.
  
• Knowledge of body fluid cleanup and proper protection.
  
• Knowledge of proper radio communications.
  
• Knowledge of pest control.
  
• Knowledge of all floor types, such as terrazzo, cement, wood, vinyl, and ceramic tile, as well as carpet fibers, weaves, and backings.
  
• Knowledge of waxes/polishes, acids, other chemicals, buffers, extractors, vacuums, and scrubbers.
  
• Knowledge of current cleaning techniques and proper cleaning chemicals.
