Job summary

The University of New Mexico, Office of the University Controller, Financial Services, invites applicants for a Manager of Accounting in the Contract & Grant Accounting unit. This role leads accounting for external funding, ensures policy compliance, and supports internal controls across sponsored projects.

Hybrid schedule possible post probation, with in-office presence as needed. Ideal candidate has strong accounting background, sponsorship/project experience, and effective communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; 5+ years related experience.
• Preferred: Master’s in Accounting or CPA/CMA certification.
• Experience with sponsored projects compliance and subrecipient monitoring.
• Strong verbal and written communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day activities ensuring compliance with policies and regulations on restricted awards.
• Supervise and manage personnel including work allocation and evaluations.
• Oversee subrecipient monitoring including risk assessments and desk reviews.
• Oversee final closeout of restricted awards in a timely manner.
• Participate in audits and support policy/procedure updates on restricted award monitoring.
• Advise UNM departments and PIs on compliance and internal controls.
