Position Description:

As a Manager, Content Strategy and Social Media, you will lead the development and implementation of a content strategy to foster pride and awareness of MCW's pillars, priorities, and people. This role involves guiding a team to position MCW as Wisconsin's leader in health and science, highlighting the contributions of its researchers to advance health. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the complexities of an academic medical system, and can manage multiple requests and partnerships effectively.

This role contributes to enhancing MCW's reputation and visibility nationally, making science accessible to the community. It requires ongoing effort and persistence to succeed.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a strategic annual content plan to boost reputation and visibility.
  • Lead creative processes from concept to execution, ensuring collaboration within the Communications team.
  • Create and implement a social media strategy with engagement tracking to optimize impact.
  • Facilitate content development and dissemination processes.
  • Serve as MCW's content expert, ensuring all content aligns with brand voice and quality standards.
  • Lead a team of creative professionals in multimedia campaigns that tell MCW's story effectively.
  • Manage social media channels, content strategy, and growth initiatives.
  • Leverage communication channels and relationships within MCW to identify story opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Communications for integrated activities.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report content performance regularly.
  • Manage vendor relationships as needed.
  • Lead social media policy development and KPI tracking to inform senior management.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Successful track record in content strategy.
  • Proficiency in editing, social media, and content management platforms.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with faculty, staff, and leadership, handling sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of digital media trends and production processes.

Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years in Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications. Appropriate experience may substitute for education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Strategy, or Communications. 8+ years of experience with at least 3 years in healthcare or academic PR and social media is preferred.
