Job summary

Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated is seeking an experienced editorial leader to develop external communications, manage an editorial calendar, and coordinate content for the Content Development team.

You will collaborate with subject matter experts, write and edit bylined articles, white papers, surveys, and technical newsletters, ensuring all materials align with corporate positioning and branding.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, or Communications.
  • 8–15 years experience in a public relations or communications role in an agency or corporate communications environment.
  • Experience writing in a business-to-business (B2B) editorial environment.
  • Preferred: Writing experience with an insurance/reinsurance company or financial services firm.
  • Experience managing publications or content development for large-scale thought leadership programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as editorial planner and project coordinator for Content Development team.
  • Works with subject matter experts to develop external-facing RGA communications.
  • Conceptualizes, writes, and edits bylined articles, research articles, white papers, summary documents, surveys, technical newsletters, and other materials.
  • Leads writing and content development activities, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Produces select RGA external newsletters, directing the style, look and feel, and written and multimedia elements.
  • Collaborates with corporate and international offices in developing various communications.
  • Proofreads and edits written and digital communications and collateral.
  • Researches life insurance, life reinsurance, and international business environment trends and needs, and makes recommendations to department management.
  • Manages projects with communication plans, budgets, timelines, vendor management, and project documentation.

Position Overview

Develops editorial materials for RGA, including articles, whitepapers, surveys, technical newsletters and other written communications published externally, substantially contributing to their overall quality. Manages editorial calendar, coordinates content lead generation, and oversees publication schedule for RGA’s Content Development team. Leads projects from conception to completion, ensuring all communications comply with approved corporate positioning and messaging.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as editorial planner and project coordinator for Content Development team.
  • Works with subject matter experts to develop external-facing RGA communications.
  • Conceptualizes, writes, and edits bylined articles, research articles, white papers, summary documents, surveys, technical newsletters, and other materials.
  • Leads writing and content development activities, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with company guidelines and standards.
  • In collaboration with others, produces select RGA external newsletters, directing the style, look and feel, and written and multimedia elements within.
  • Collaborates with corporate and international offices in developing various communications.
  • Proofreads and edits written and digital communications and collateral.
  • Creates engaging layouts for online content and maintains design standards for RGA’s online Knowledge Center.
  • Assists in establishing and enforcing brand guidelines and written style guidelines.
  • Identifies and develops award submissions that will benefit the company and its businesses.
  • Manages projects as assigned, including creation of communication plans, budgets, team communications, timeline management, vendor management, and project documentation.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal clients and is proactive in suggesting creative solutions, while ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Researches life insurance, life reinsurance, and international business environment trends and needs, and makes recommendations to department management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, or Communications.
  • 8–15 years experience in a public relations or communications role in an agency or corporate communications environment (portfolio of writing samples must include a wide range of corporate communications).
  • Experience writing in a business-to-business (B2B) editorial environment.
  • Preferred: Writing experience with an insurance/reinsurance company, a financial services company, or an agency serving similar types of firms.
  • Experience managing publications or content development for large-scale thought leadership programs.

Benefits

The general pay range for this position is $80K – $110K per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
