Job summary

Tyson Foods in Pasco, WA is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager responsible for implementing an environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at the facility. You will supervise the wastewater team, write compliance plans, and track KPIs for reporting.

Responsibilities include developing programs across major environmental acts, maintaining regulator relationships, and supporting spill response with a goal of zero exceedances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering is required.
  • 4+ years of environmental experience; or 2+ years with Tyson Foods Environmental Trainee Program.
  • Food production industry experience is a plus.

Summary

This position is responsible for implementing an environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at one or more locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Wastewater Supervisor and Wastewater Operators.
  • Create and implement environmental programs.
  • Write compliance plans.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for compliance.
  • Develop and submit permit applications.
  • Implement waste minimization programs.
  • Ensure on-time reporting of all required compliance-based reports.
  • Communicate any non-compliant issues.
Environmental Programs Include
  • Clean Air Act
  • Clean Water Act
  • Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA)
  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA)
  • Oil Pollution Act
  • Safe Drinking Water Act
  • Other local, state, and federal environmental regulations
Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead location management to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain relationships with local, state, and federal regulators.
  • Support spill response activities.
  • Under the direction of the Area Environmental Manager, serve as an organizer, facilitator, analyst, and problem-solver on environmental compliance with the goal of zero environmental exceedances.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering required.
Experience
  • 4+ years of environmental experience, or
  • 2+ years of environmental experience and successful completion of the Tyson Foods Environmental Trainee Program.
  • Food production industry experience is a plus.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
  • Basic computer skills to utilize compliance databases such as eCAT and Incident Tracker.
Communication Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of Team Members.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
