Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Complex Safety Manager to lead health and safety programs across processing and live operations. As a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, you will drive a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide continuous improvement to reduce risk and promote employee wellbeing.

The role partners with operations to implement best practices, oversees OSHA-related activities, training, audits, and incident investigations, and travels up to 40%.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial operations.
  • 3+ years of progressive safety leadership experience.
  • Experience with OSHA compliance, incident investigations, and safety program management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all safety programs and initiatives for the complex.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments with corrective actions.
  • Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to identify improvements.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and develop preventive action plans.
  • Maintain OSHA records, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead safety training programs including LOTO, Hazard Communication, PPE, Ergonomics, and Emergency Response.
  • Support regulatory inspections and serve as the primary safety contact.
  • Partner with operations teams to drive engagement and strengthen safety culture.

Job Details:

The Complex Safety Manager provides strategic leadership for health and safety programs across processing and live operations. As a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, this role drives a proactive safety culture, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads continuous improvement efforts to reduce risk, prevent injuries, and promote employee well‑being. The position serves as the site's primary health and safety representative and partners with leaders to implement best practices that support Tyson Foods' safety goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all safety programs and initiatives for the complex.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and develop preventive action plans.
  • Maintain OSHA records, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead safety training programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication, PPE, Ergonomics, and Emergency Response.
  • Support regulatory inspections and serve as the primary contact for safety-related matters.
  • Partner with operations teams to drive employee engagement and strengthen the site's safety culture.
Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial operations.
  • 3+ years of progressive safety leadership experience.
  • Experience with OSHA compliance, incident investigations, and safety program management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, ergonomics, accident investigation, and safety training.
  • Knowledge of PSM and RMP programs preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
Travel

Up to 40% travel required.
