Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to oversee an environmental management system at one or more locations.

You will lead environmental programs, supervise personnel, and develop and implement compliance plans to meet local, state, and federal requirements. Responsibilities include managing reporting under major acts (CWA, CAA, CERCLA, RCRA, FIFRA, OPA, SDWA), collaborating with regulators, and driving corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in natural science, environmental science, or engineering required.
  • 4+ years environmental experience or 2+ years plus Tyson Foods Environmental Trainee program; food production experience a plus.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; basic ability to use compliance databases such as eCAT and Incident Tracker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; bilingual skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at one or more locations.
  • Supervise environmental programs and personnel; write compliance plans and track KPIs.
  • Develop and submit permit applications; implement waste minimization programs; ensure on-time reporting of compliance-based reports.
  • Communicate non-compliant issues; collaborate with management to ensure compliance; maintain regulator relationships.
  • Support spill response efforts; act as organizer and problem-solver for environmental compliance under Area Environmental Manager.

Summary

This position is responsible for managing an environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at one or more locations.

Supervises environmental programs and personnel.

Creates and implements environmental programs.

Writes compliance plans and tracks key performance indicators for compliance.

Develops and submits permit applications.

Implements waste minimization programs.

Ensures on-time reporting of all required compliance-based reports.

Communicates any non-compliant issues.

Manages environmental programs related to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, Oil Pollution Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Collaborates with management to ensure compliance.

Maintains relationships with local, state, and federal regulators.

Supports spill response efforts.

Under the direction of the Area Environmental Manager, serves as an organizer, facilitator, analyst, and problem-solver for environmental compliance with the goal of zero environmental exceedances.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in natural science environmental science or engineering required.
  • Experience: 4 plus years experience of environmental, or 2 plus years experience of environmental and successful completion of the Tyson Foods Environmental Trainee program; food production industry experience a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word Excel and Power Point. Must also have ability to have basic computer skills to utilize compliance databases such as eCAT and Incident Tracker.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of Team Members; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Special Skills: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to drive concurrent projects to completion; comfortable influencing all levels of the organization; strong team and collaboration skills; demonstrates ability to think creatively and drive innovation; and Project Management concepts and techniques.
