Job summary

Providence St. Joseph Health seeks a Manager, Regional Clinical Informatics to drive implementation and optimization of clinical informatics, the Caring Reliably framework, and IS strategy across regional care settings in collaboration with nursing and physician leadership.

The role requires extensive experience in clinical informatics, staff leadership, and change management, with a focus on enabling safe and efficient use of information technology by clinicians and patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a healthcare-related field.
• 6 years of strong experience in clinical informatics and management.
• 4 years of experience in clinical or IT functional management with financial oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaborative implementation and ongoing optimization of clinical informatics and IS strategy.
• Supervise staff performance and coordinate with clinical leaders to support multidisciplinary care teams.
• Represent information needs of healthcare professionals and patients to promote safe, effective IT use.
• Oversee initiatives across acute, ambulatory, and post-acute care settings.

Description

As a member of the Providence St. Joseph Health Clinical Informatics management team, the Manager, Regional Clinical Informatics is responsible, in collaboration with Directors and Medical Informatics, for collaborative implementation, support, and ongoing optimization of clinical informatics, the Caring Reliably framework, IS strategy, and other organizational commitments. As a partner for clinical transformation and in collaboration with the GVPs Clinical Nursing Informatics, CI Regional Directors, ministry nurse executives and other clinical and physician leaders, the Manager oversees staff performance in informatics initiatives with an emphasis on information technology and services that support nursing and interdisciplinary care partners in areas of practice, clinical applications, clinical/administrative decision‑making, research, quality improvement initiatives, education, and resource management. He/she combines knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively represent the information and knowledge needs and requirements of healthcare professionals and patients and to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of information technology in clinical settings. Scope may include acute care, ambulatory care, and post‑acute care settings in designated areas of service. The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes a multidisciplinary team concept and reflects the Providence St. Joseph Health mission, vision, values, and philosophy.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Informatics, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related healthcare field or equivalent education/experience.
• 6 years of strong experience in clinical practice, clinical informatics and management. Demonstrated ability to manage and successfully execute strategic plans for highly complex issues. Able to communicate with all levels and manage shifting priorities and be accountable for deliverables.
• 4 years of experience in clinical or IT functional management in comparable organizations, including financial and supervisory accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing, Informatics, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related healthcare field (or degree in process).
• Certification in Informatics upon hire.
• Epic Certification in one or more applications upon hire.
• Informatics certifications or credentialing (may be equivalent for up to 2 years of experience for this position at the hiring manager’s discretion) upon hire.
• 3 years of experience in all areas of program and project management including multiple project integration and process/workflow redesign.
