Manager - Business Development (Asia Packaging & Labels)

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of the company by partnering with RRD Sales to identify new business opportunities with existing customers, leveraging strategic partnerships, and leading initiatives that enhance the company’s market presence. This role requires a deep understanding of business, financials, RRD products/services, and client challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all business development initiatives for the Asia packaging & label platform.
  • Develop colleagues’ and customers’ understanding of services and solutions provided by the Asia packaging & label platforms.
  • Work closely with National Sales, Strategy, and Business Development to develop and execute a process to vet new opportunities for strategic and tactical fit.
  • Follow up on Packaging & Label Opportunities in Salesforce to ensure information is complete and accurate, enforcing Salesforce as the single source of sales pipeline information.
  • Identify and analyze market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Explore and evaluate new business opportunities, including existing and potential clients, partnerships, and markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sales representatives.
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients and partners.
  • Ensure proposals align with the company’s strategic objectives and value proposition.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and product development teams to ensure alignment on business goals and messaging.
  • Work with senior management to define and prioritize business development initiatives.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts, using analytical skills to identify innovative sales solutions.
  • Anticipate and understand customer and account needs, feedback, and objections, and communicate solutions effectively.
  • Use judgment, discretion, and creativity to persuade customers and secure favorable decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the packaging industry, preferably in folding cartons.
  • Knowledge of Packaging – Folding Carton, Rigid Box, Pulp Tray, Inserts, Corrugate, POP Displays, Retail & Industrial Packaging.
  • 10+ years of sales experience prospecting new business and maintaining existing accounts.
  • Experience working with Global Brands and marketplaces.
  • Experience in Asia (China & SEA) packaging, label, and supply chain.
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and challenges in Asia (China & SEA).

Skills and Certifications

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep expertise in sales within a specialized product, service, or account type.

  • 3+ years in business development, contracts, licensing, or marketing.

Additional Information

RRD's current salary range for this role is $98,100 to $156,000/year, adjustable based on location and other factors. Compensation may include bonuses, commissions, or incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k), life insurance, parental leave, tuition assistance, and discounts.
