Summary

The Air Import Manager oversees the importation of goods by air, ensuring efficient and timely delivery while maintaining strong relationships with customers and vendors. This role involves managing import processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the importation of goods by air, including carrier selection, booking, and transportation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as logistics, finance, and operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and third‑party service providers to optimize cargo delivery.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries promptly to maintain satisfaction and trust.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs regulations and trade laws.
  • Stay updated on changes in air freight regulations and import controls.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Identify and execute process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including cargo delivery times, costs, and service quality.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of air import coordinators and support staff.
Educational Background & Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in air imports and supervisory roles is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with air freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls.
  • Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules.

Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions
Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort. The role may require occasional standing, walking, and lifting of lightweight items. Hours can be extensive and may be staggered for multi‑shift access. The position requires frequent computer use; specific vision requirements include close and distance vision. Minimal domestic and international travel may be required.

Salary

Expected base pay range is $78,000 – $98,000 annually, subject to adjustment based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
