Qualifications

Primary Location:4800 Preston Park Boulevard, Plano, Texas, 75093We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Job Summary:Lead the Academic Technology team in the administration, support, and continuous improvement of systems that support teaching, learning, and academic operations. Responsible for overseeing the College's Learning Management System (LMS), academic technology applications, faculty-facing systems, academic scheduling support systems, course review technologies, and internal information portals serving students and employees.Provide leadership for a team of academic technology professionals, fostering a customer-focused culture that emphasizes service excellence, system reliability, usability, accessibility, and continuous improvement. Work collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Technology Services, Student Affairs, and other stakeholders, to ensure that academic technology solutions effectively support student success, faculty engagement, and institutional goals.Required Qualifications:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership, supervision, coaching, and professional development for a team of academic technology professionals responsible for system administration, user support, training, and operational services.Lead the administration, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the College's Learning Management System (Canvas) and related teaching and learning technologies.Ensure reliable operation and support of academic technology systems, including course scheduling applications, faculty review and evaluation systems, student and faculty information portals, and other academic support platforms.Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Technology Services, and institutional stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and technology enhancements that improve the student and faculty experience.Develop and maintain operational procedures, documentation, governance standards, and service expectations for supported systems.Leverages data analysis and insights to identify opportunities, inform decision-making, and drive strategic improvements across the college.Monitor system performance, user adoption, and service metrics; recommend and implement improvements to enhance effectiveness, usability, and customer satisfaction.Coordinate system upgrades, integrations, testing activities, and vendor-supported implementations related to academic technology platforms.Serve as a functional expert for Canvas and related academic technologies, providing guidance regarding best practices, capabilities, and emerging trends.Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new academic technology tools and services that support instructional and operational objectives.Partner with faculty, instructional support teams, and administrators to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions.Ensure supported systems meet accessibility standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.Oversee vendor relationships for assigned systems, including support coordination, contract performance, issue escalation, and service reviews.Support communication strategies related to academic technology services, system changes, outages, enhancements, and user engagement initiatives.Promote user-centered design principles, information architecture best practices, and effective digital communication strategies across supported platforms.Participate in strategic planning activities and contribute to the development of short- and long-term academic technology roadmaps.Assist in developing and managing budgets associated with assigned systems, services, and projects.Supplemental FunctionsPerform other duties as assigned.Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and core values.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of Learning Management Systems, preferably CanvasKnowledge of academic technology ecosystems, instructional technologies, and higher education support processesKnowledge of web design principles, digital communications, content strategy, and information architectureKnowledge of software administration, integrations, identity management, and user provisioning processesKnowledge of accessibility standards and usability best practices for digital systemsStrong customer service orientation with demonstrated ability to build a culture of service excellenceExcellent written, verbal, and visual communication skillsExcellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skillsAbility to manage competing priorities and multiple technology initiativesAbility to build collaborative relationships across functional and technical teamsAbility to analyze operational requirements and recommend effective technology solutionsAbility to evaluate software products and vendor services to meet organizational needsAbility to develop documentation, training materials, and operational proceduresAbility to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiencesPhysical Demands, Working Conditions, and Physical EffortLight Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. Occasional physical effort required.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience supporting academic technology, enterprise applications, learning management systems, or related technology services.Two (2) years of supervisory or team leadership experience.Experience administering or supporting a Learning Management System, preferably Canvas.PreferredMaster's degree from an accredited institution.Experience in higher education.Experience with Canvas administration and related educational technology tools.Experience supporting enterprise academic systems, scheduling platforms, or faculty evaluation systems.Experience with website content management systems, intranet platforms, or digital communication tools.Experience leading technology implementations and process improvement initiatives.Required & Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of the positions given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
