Job summary

Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Capitol Heights, MD, is seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead restaurant operations, drive sales, supervise staff, and uphold brand standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of managerial experience in restaurant or fast‑casual settings, strong P&L skills, and a proven track record in hiring, training, and developing team members. Note: current location is closed for renovation and will relocate within the same shopping center, reopening in December 2024.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience in restaurant or fast‑casual field required.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, training & developing employees.
• Experience growing sales & providing excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence in both front of the house & back of the house.
• Must have a proven track record of managing cost of goods & labor.
• Strong skills in understanding P&L reports & budgets.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Effective verbal & written communication skills.
• Preferred: ServSafe Manager Certification.

• Monitor sales growth & cost control against budgeted expectations and historical performance to meet profit goals.
• Maintain & exceed customer expectations to build brand loyalty.
• Present a consistent, professional image by upholding sanitation and appearance standards.

• Build café sales by cultivating relationships in the business community and initiating local store marketing campaigns.

This location is currently closed for renovation. It will be relocating to a new facility in the same Ritchie Station shopping center. It will be reopening in December 2024. This location requires a minimum age of 17 years old for hire.
