Job description

Job Summary

The Management Trainee will learn all aspects of Plant Operations. This position aims to transition a high-potential individual into a leadership role within the plant.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Note: Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties at any time.

  1. Observe all safety rules, recognize safety as a top priority, and participate in safety meetings.
  2. Support management in correcting safety hazards and unsafe behaviors.
  3. Engage in various operations roles to understand the plant's workflow, from raw materials to finished goods.
  4. Train hourly employees as needed.
  5. Learn supervisor paperwork and shift reporting; fill in during absences.
  6. Understand supporting functions like safety, logistics, finance, maintenance, quality, and HR.
  7. Assist with maintenance, including preventive techniques and repairs.
  8. Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Contribute to annual budget development and monitor expenditures.
  10. Develop relationships with raw material suppliers and resolve issues.
  11. Achieve individual and departmental targets and objectives.
  12. Gain experience in other departments such as marketing, sales, and personnel.
  13. Follow training guidelines and attend evaluations, maintaining a passing score.
  14. Complete training on first shift, then transition to second shift.
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields with at least one year of related experience, or
  • HS diploma/GED with 4-5 years of plant management experience; military experience is a plus.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to train on first shift and transition to second shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in rendering, quality assurance, food production, or agriculture.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies like 5S, Six Sigma, Lean.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Leadership qualities and decision-making skills.
  • Self-supervised and highly organized with excellent time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems like Oracle or SAP.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, crouching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Reaching with hands or arms.
Work Environment

The role involves working in a non-climate-controlled plant environment, tolerating high heat and cold, as well as office settings.
