Summary
The employee will serve as the Management & Program Analyst (Executive Assistant) in the Data and Information Department of the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL), Veterans Affairs (VA). The VCL is a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year service aimed at connecting callers worldwide to a caring, qualified Veterans Administration employee. The VCL's mission is to provide 24/7, world-class suicide prevention and crisis intervention services to Veterans, Service Members and their family members.

Duties

  • Serves as the Executive Assistant and key advisor to the Supervisory Management & Program Analyst (Director), Data & Information, performing a variety of administrative and technical support tasks.
  • Provides high-level administrative support regarding personnel, staff utilization, leave programs, organizational and staff development.
  • Informs personnel of administrative policy changes, new procedures, and practices, ensuring consistency across VCL.
  • Cites and discusses policies, regulations, and directives to assist in official responses.
  • Provides background, reference, program, and policy information for decision-making.
  • Interfaces with individuals at all organizational levels, including VA Clinical Service, OSP, and VCL.
  • Coordinates matters affecting VCL Data & Information policy and operations.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and controls all executive correspondence for the Data & Information office.
  • Identifies areas needing emphasis, guides tasks, and coordinates with other organizations to meet division needs.
  • Initiates and directs actions for timely objectives and recommends solutions.
  • Defines objectives, establishes plans, and evaluates progress.
  • Performs research and drafts/edits briefing materials, memos, white papers, and analyses.
  • Prepares and maintains executive-level briefings.
  • Reviews all correspondence for content, coordination, and routing.
  • Researches VA, VHA, and VCL policies to determine appropriate procedures.
  • Provides advice and assistance on management and administrative projects supporting VCL's mission.

Work Schedule: Typically administrative hours, with flexible schedule options after training. Coverage includes holidays due to 24/7/365 operations.

Telework: Not applicable for remote positions.

Remote: This is a remote position. Selectees will work outside of the local commuting area with a suitable home workspace and high-speed internet.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Selective Service registration (for males born after 12/31/1959)
  • Background/security investigation required
  • Pre-employment online onboarding and valid identification required
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required.

Qualifications: Must meet all requirements by 06/05/2025. Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements. Experience must include generating, analyzing, and synthesizing complex data, managing sensitive correspondence, evaluating administrative challenges, and serving as a liaison.

Applicants will be rated on competencies including Technical Competence, Communication, Planning and Evaluating, Project Management, Writing, Analysis and Problem Solving, Requirements Analysis, Accountability, and Organizational Stewardship.

Education: No substitution at this grade level. Recognized degrees from accredited institutions only.

Additional Information: Announcements remain open until 06/05/2025, with first consideration for applications received by that date. Work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional travel. Physical demands are sedentary with occasional travel.
