Summary

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Midwest Region, Division of Administration, Harrison, Arkansas. You will serve as a Management and Program Analyst with National Park Service. This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1-year Merit Promotion appointment. This temporary promotion appointment may be made permanent without further competition. This position will be made permanent after the first year as funding has been approved.

Major Duties

Major Duties Requirements: Coordinates directly with park leadership team on a wide range of senior management issues pertaining to Buffalo National River district units. Participates fully, many times with direct with Superintendent or acting proxy to manage and coordinate issues of significance within the Midwest Region. Researches and develops position and strategy papers on a variety of program subject matters that require knowledge of park operations for use by the Superintendent in planning meetings and conferences, developing strategic plans, resolving operational conflicts, and assessing program operations, etc. Undertakes the conduct of special studies that are of a nature that involve direct participation of the Superintendent and park leadership team. Such study efforts may transcend several functional program areas requiring coordination within the Directorate as well as obtaining input from park units and other organizations in the bureau and agency. Must be able to research data and compiles information upon which goals and objectives are based, effecting coordination with other elements of the agency. Maintains surveillance of actions within the park operation that have been taken to achieve goals within strategic plans directed by the Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director and recommends corrective action when program deficiencies are uncovered. Coordinates with the Superintendent and park leadership team with travel schedules, agenda preparation, various reservations, and other coordinative services. Upon return from such visits, takes the lead in debriefing the staff, generating and issuing instructions to the staff for appropriate corrective action to be taken on specific issues and preparing travel and other reports. In conjunction with the Superintendent's Management and Program Analysts, ensures that follow-up reviews are conducted to insure that committed actions are complete and response has been made to principal parties involved. Prepares draft responses for Superintendent and park leadership team's signature in Congressional, operational and technical park issues that have direct impact upon attaining the National Park Service and Regional Area mission. Serves as the principal staff officer in developing and coordinating major events, meetings and conferences sponsored by Buffalo National River.
