Job summary

Ruan is seeking a dispatcher in Des Moines, IA, with a hybrid work model combining on-site at the Ruan Campus downtown Des Moines and remote work. The role runs Monday through Friday, coordinating shipments for a contractual customer with established providers.

You will manage carrier relationships, monitor safety and delivery performance, and communicate across teams to meet service commitments and improve profitability.

Responsibilities

• Create and analyze KPI reporting focused on efficiency and improvements.

Job description

This position offers a hybrid work schedule: mix of on site work at Ruan Campus located downtown Des Moines and remote work

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Responsible for the coordination, assignment and management of shipments; primarily, for a specific contractual customer using a core group of established transportation providers.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage the business and service relationship with a contractual customer to ensure their specific requirements including service expectations, commodity handling, facility protocol and hours of operations are understood and complied with.
• Manage and coordinate all contractually obligated shipments via an established carrier base using; primarily, a predetermined route guide(s) to ensure adequate capacity to meet customer demands.
• Actively monitor all shipments to ensure safe and timely delivery while complying with all State and Federal regulations and Ruan company policies.
• Act as a liaison between customer and transportation providers. Provide outstanding customer service by handling and responding to all customer inquires timely and accurately. Investigate and proficiently resolve all shipment related issues to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
• Establish strong working relationships amongst co-workers and other Ruan operations including Integrated Solutions, transport operations and RDAS to leverage capacity, improve service and maximize profitability. Perform functions and support the activity of other operations as necessary.
• Actively pursue carriers to better understand their capabilities to support our customer's needs including specific equipment type(s), on-board communications, and service area.
• Create, maintain, and/or analyze customer focused KPI reporting process focused on operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Requirements

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in Logistics/Transportation/Business

Experience: 1-2 years experience in transportation or logistics industry involving dispatch and customer service.

Must have strong verbal and written communication and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.
