The Quality Control Mammography Technologist performs mammographic procedures andcoordinates activities/ tasks to maintain compliance and accreditation with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), EQUIP, and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates activities/tasks to maintain compliance and accreditation with the Mammography Quality
  • Standards Act (MQSA), EQUIP, and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
  • Demonstrates high-level knowledge of established protocols and equipment operation when performing quality control testing.
  • Provides instruction and feedback to technologists.
  • Maintains and reconciles the list of unresolved recommendations and tracks pathology results
  • Assists with department projects and goals.
  • Works closely with the Mammography Technologists, Physicians, RNs, Physicists and Field Service Engineers to ensure the department operates within compliance of MQSA regulations.
  • Provide QC resources and education to all Seattle Cancer Care Alliance mammography sites.
  • Prepares/modifies/updates all Quality control documentation forms for clinics.
  • Performs frequent review of clinics’ QC records with onsite visits to ensure compliance with MQSA.
  • Coordinates all annual Inspections and documentation required by MQSA or ACR.
  • Assumes responsibility to provide a quality-learning environment for technologists, patients, patient’s families, students, and coworkers.
  • Responsible for contributing to staff meetings, organizing in-services, conducting continuing education and quality assurance work as required by the department.
  • Maintains confidentiality with others regarding patient and organizational information.
  • Provides training and guidance for the orientation of new staff and new exam protocols.
  • Supports the daily operations of Breast Imaging Department, including the Fred Hutch clinic and mobile mammography van, in conjunction with the Supervisor, Breast Imaging
  • Ensures the timely completion of patient exams in accordance with the department procedures for technical quality
  • Interacts with the medical and nursing staff to ensure efficient patient care
  • Performs all clinical exams in the mammography section and on the mobile mammography van with a competency level of a senior or resource technologist
  • Competently operates all mammography equipment in the department
  • Assists radiologists and other physicians with any/all procedures
  • Assures the comfort and safety of the patient at all times
Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree or program that provides you the eligibility to attain certification or licensure
  • Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification

  • Completed 8 hours of training in using a mammographic modality (e.g., digital), before beginning to use that modality independently

  • Meets one of the following:

    • If Qualified BEFORE April 28,1999, must be certified by: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT),

      OR - American Registry of Clinical Radiologic Technologists,

      OR - Licensed to perform general radiographic procedures in a state AND 40 hours of training in mammography

    • If Qualified AFTER April 28,1999, must be certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Clinical Radiologic Technologists, or, Licensed to perform general radiographic procedures in a state. Additionally, completed 40 hours of training in mammography including training in breast anatomy and physiology, positioning and compression, QA/QC techniques, and imaging of patients with breast implants and completed 25 mammography examinations under direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA-qualified individual

    • If not registered, will become registered at first eligibility

  • Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
  • Ability to work independently, organize, and prioritize concurrent responsibilities and demands
  • Ability to assess patients' conditions and request assistance when necessary
  • Ability to assist in the movement of patient to and from wheelchairs, carts and radiographic tables.

Preferred:

  • Two years of mammography technologist experience preferred
  • Preferred three years of QC/QA experience, including detailed knowledge of the Quality control testing requirements and documentation.
  • Proficient in email and word processing systems
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records

The hourly pay range for this position is from $49.24 to $77.82 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

1.0 FTE Fully Onsite - Mon through Sat Variable
