GENERAL SUMMARY
Shift: PRN, hours per week will vary, day shift
Provides mammography imaging services. Responsibilities include:
- Operating equipment and performing various mammography procedures.
- Preparing and positioning patients and selecting anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Explaining procedures and educating patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health.
- Developing and evaluating the film for technical quality such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
- Following radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
- Ensuring prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS (including image quality, correct lead markers, and patient data/history).
- Ensuring equipment is properly functioning and reporting potential problems or malfunctions.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and film storage areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School diploma or equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR
- Associate's degree/Technical degree, OR
- 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED
- BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire or transfer. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers is acceptable upon hire but must be renewed as a BLS Provider card from AHA.
- One or more of the following credentials obtained within 12 months of hire or transfer:
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography credentialed from ARRT, OR
- Medical Sonographer credentialed from ARDMS.
