The Mammography Technologist will work with the Breast Care team for the care of patients with actual or potential breast health concerns in conjunction with Ohio Valley Imaging Center. The Mammography Technologist reports to the Breast Nurse Care Coordinator.

Responsibilities
  • Operate mammography unit to include radiologist-assisted procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, and needle localizations or produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a physician.
  • Follow established quality standards for imaging techniques and ensure staff compliance.
  • Follow established guidelines for MQSA (and other) accreditation, including all associated quality assurance measures, policies, employee training, and ongoing competence training.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • In cooperation with the Breast Nurse Care Coordinator, follow established guidelines related to:
  • Resource to women with breast health concerns, e.g., teach breast self-examination, answer questions about breast health concerns, and provide breast health lectures as needed.
  • Provide education to patients concerning what can be expected prior to, during, and after diagnostic and treatment procedures.
  • Provide input towards the development of patient educational materials.
  • Provide staff and community education as required.
  • Participate in professional growth and development opportunities by attending various meetings, conferences, and courses.
  • Demonstrate awareness of patient’s needs as a total person (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, cultural, etc.), consistent with patient’s age and development level.
  • Follow Departmental and Ohio Valley guidelines related to guest services activities in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Adhere to Ohio Valley’s policies, procedures, and compliance program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • ARRT-(R)(M) certified (current and active, including required CEUs).
  • ODH License (current and active, including required CEUs for MQSA/ACR accreditation).
  • CPR certified.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in mammographic imaging.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity toward unique patient and family needs associated with this environment.
  • Understands MQSA accreditation and possesses the knowledge to meet the program’s requirements.
  • Capable of adequately performing the essential functions of this job and meeting its functional and environmental requirements.
