Job summary

The University of Rochester's Imaging Sciences-Breast Center in Rochester, NY, is seeking a full-time Radiologic Technologist to perform mammographic exams in alignment with orders and MQSA standards. You will ensure safe patient handling and accurate documentation while maintaining high-quality images.

This role requires formal radiologic technology training, NYS licensure, ARRT certification with CE credits, and CPR/BCLS.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire required.
• ARRT Radiography Certification with CE credits upon hire required.
• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation upon hire required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support upon hire required.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammographic exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies.
• Responsible for scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the Mammography department with appropriate post mammographic instructions.
• Receives orientation to the departmental infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines.
• Identifies patient service requirements.
• Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
• Prepares patient for radiological/mammographic and ultrasound guided procedures.
• Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation.
• Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
• Maintains production and quality of mammographic images.
• Follows established standards, orders, protocols and procedures.
• Ensures minimal radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques (ALARA), patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls.
• Assists leadership with all QA and QC tests and documentation to ensure compliance with MQSA and FDA standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
