Qualifications

The Mammography Technologist performs mammography examinations following ACR requirements, including screening and diagnostic mammography as well as all related procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients professionally and efficiently.
  • Executes all mammographic imaging procedures as trained.
  • Provides immobilization devices, selects appropriate technical factors based on patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.
  • Performs bone density procedures as assigned.
  • Accurately identifies patient images with correct labels, MRN, and marks images correctly for breast side, including technologist’s initials.
  • Assists with quality control procedures and documents phantom images, repeat analyses, calibration tests, and other quality assurance activities.
  • Tracks patient follow-ups, breast localizations, biopsy recommendations, and follow-up on positive biopsy reports.
  • Documents procedures related to quality control and assurance in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA regulations.
  • Ensures proper use of the Faxitron system and documents in EMR (EPIC).
  • Modifies care based on patient needs, considering age, culture, language, and sensory impairments, and communicates appropriately.
  • Maintains equipment cleanliness and proper shielding protocols.
  • Ensures rooms are stocked and organized, labels specimens correctly, and tracks patient location in EPIC.
  • Recognizes equipment errors and initiates corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned, adhering to organizational standards.
  • Lifts at least 25 lbs., pushes/pulls 50 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent programs.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Meet requirements for the ARRT exam and pass it.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
Licenses and Certifications
  • NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R.)
  • ARRT certification
  • AHA BLS/HCP certification within 60 days of employment
