Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a part-time Radiologic Technologist with breast imaging experience. You will perform mammography procedures, follow MQSA and ACR guidelines, and collaborate with radiologists to ensure high-quality images and timely results.

The role requires 1+ year of experience, an active ARRT mammography/RT license, strong communication, and the ability to work in a dynamic clinical environment. Benefits start day one.

Qualifications

  • High School Grad or Equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Must have ARRT licensure and mammography certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and recall processes and assists with imaging coordination.
  • Supports breast center initiatives and quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification and consent.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in EMR and PACS.
  • Performs high-quality mammography exams following provider orders.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and equipment is tested for safety.
  • Notifies colleagues when inventory is low and documents QC checks.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images.
  • Explains procedures clearly, addressing questions with professionalism.
  • Follows MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines and communicates results promptly.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and imaging team on next steps.

Job Description
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]

  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]
  • Good organizational skills [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]

  • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]

  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
