Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Mammography Technologist to prepare patients and perform routine mammography and bone densitometry under Radiologist supervision. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality images and coordinating with exam results and patient information for timely interpretation.

The position requires Virginia licensure, ARRT registration, BLS, and mammography experience. A strong safety mindset and ability to educate students are expected within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Radiologic Technologist license required from the Commonwealth of Virginia for MIF, LLC facilities.
• BLS certification required.
• ARRT (R) registered in Radiologic Technology required; ARRT (M) preferred; registry required within one year if not yet registered in Mammography.
• Six months relevant experience required; preferred three months in mammography or completion of cross-training program.
• Bone Densitometry and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy experience preferred.
• Experience with EMR, Radiology, and information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for mammography examinations by verifying orders and patient history.
• Performs screening and diagnostic mammography and bone densitometry for all ages.
• Adheres to policies to ensure quality patient care and safety.
• Maintains competency in C.A.D. technology for image digitization.
• Monitors supplies to avoid interruptions in service.
• Documents procedures and ensures timely billing and data accuracy.
• Participates in performance improvement activities for the Mammography department.
• Supports student supervision and cross-training programs.
