Responsibilities

• Acknowledges mammography exams and documents in HIS and PACS.
• Assist scheduling with special testing in mammography area.
• Obtain previous mammograms for comparison.
• Assist radiologist with needle localization and stereotactic biopsies.
• Assist with ultrasound breast biopsy procedures.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and perform QA testing.
• Perform daily QA and meet MSQA requirements.
• Position and radiograph patients using mammography equipment with radiation safety in mind.
• Promote mammography through community education.
• Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs.

Job description

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours a week required (rotating weekends)

Department: Mammography

Mammography Technologist II position is responsible for providing quality diagnostic images for review by the radiologist. In addition this position requires accreditation and performance of breast ultrasound.

Required: AS degree, ARRT (M)(R)(BS) IEMA, IEMA and BLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledges mammography exams completed during the shift and maintains proper documentation in the hospital information system (HIS) and Picture archiving communication system (PACS).
• Assists Central Scheduling in setting up special testing within mammography work area (i.e. additional views, localization).
• Obtains previous mammograms for comparison.
• Assists radiologist with needle localization and stereotactic biopsies requiring mammography equipment.
• Assists with ultrasound breast biopsy procedures.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment in order to comply with established policies and procedures of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System and OSHA.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and quality assurance.
• Performs breast ultrasound exams.
• Performs daily quality assurance testing and takes an active role in meeting requirements for MSQA; quality control/assurance.
• Positions and radiographs patients utilizing mammography equipment while practicing radiation safety.
• Promotes mammography through community education.
• Reports equipment malfunctions and need for maintenance appropriately.
