Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a part-time role to provide high-quality imaging and patient support in a busy radiology department.

The ideal candidate will have ARRT-M Mammography and ARRT-R in Radiography, BLS, and at least 1 year of mammography experience. We value compassionate care, teamwork, and ongoing professional development within Wellstar.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Mammography experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders, and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per infection control guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests including phantom, visual checklist, and DICOM printer tests.
• Ensure all images are labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide pre- and post-exam instructions and answer questions or escalate to providers as needed.
