Job summary

Centerpoint Health-Georgetown is seeking a Mammography Technician to perform imaging procedures, review orders, and educate patients to ensure understanding and cooperation.

The role supports full-time scheduling (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 8:30a-5p) with required KY State Radiation Operator license and ARRT/BLS credentials, contributing to MQSA compliance and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
• Graduate of a program in discipline required.
• KY State Radiation Operator license with ARRT and BLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography procedures in accordance with standards.
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam.
• Monitors patient condition and responds to changes as appropriate.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures, biopsies, stereotactic, and special procedures.
• Ensures compliance with MQSA regulations and accreditations.

How you'll contribute

• Performs mammography procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. Keeps current with BiRad and follows up on all patients.

What we're looking for
