Job summary

Centerpoint Health-Georgetown, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Mammography Technician. You will perform mammography procedures, review orders, and educate patients to ensure understanding and cooperation.

You will also prepare contrast media as needed, monitor patients, assist in interventional procedures, and ensure imaging quality and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or a program graduate in discipline.
• KY State Radiation Operator license is required.
• ARRT Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography procedures per scope and standards.
• Reviews patient history and physician orders.
• Educates patient on procedures and exam to ensure cooperation.
• Prepares/ administers contrast media within scope.
• Monitors patient condition and reports changes as needed.
• Assists with interventional procedures as applicable.
• Prepares equipment and supplies; selects exposure factors.
• Ensures MQSA compliance and quality controls.
• Positions patient and performs imaging, biopsies, and related procedures.
• Analyzes results and addresses image quality issues.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs mammography procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. Keeps current with BiRad and follow-ups on all patients.
