GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the general direction of the Radiologist and ordering provider and under the supervision of the Operations Manager or Radiology Manager/Director or Mammography Team Leader, performs screening and diagnostic mammography. Function in direct cooperation with the physician and other radiology personnel. Works within guidelines established in the policy and procedure manual and complies with all radiation safety guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique and practices Universal Precautions. Performs associated duties, i.e. processing films, transporting patients, when necessary and assembling all associated paperwork and mammograms to provide to radiologist for dictation. Ability to lecture on mammography and breast self-examination, when necessary. Will assist other areas of the Radiology Department and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO
  • Performs diagnostic and screening x-rays, including mammograms for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician.
  • Performs necessary quality control procedures to ensure quality exams are performed.
  • Maintains patient comfort and adheres to proper safety procedures.
  • Contributes to the teamwork, philosophy of the department/office.
  • Adheres to and practices appropriate infection control policies and procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining and improving diagnostic imaging knowledge and skills with the support and assistance of outside educational resources.
  • Assists in maintaining budgeted supply expense.
  • Responsible for maintaining current licensure and certification for the facility radiology equipment and licensure.
EDUCATION
  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiological technology.
EXPERIENCE
  • Two or more year's post-graduate RT experience, including Mammography preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
  • Current licensure/registry/certification in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and current certification in Mammography.
  • BLS and CPR certification preferred.
