Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Mammography Imaging Specialist to provide mammography services at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham, North Tower Imaging. The role includes operating mammography equipment, positioning patients, and educating patients on breast health.

Qualified candidates will have an accredited radiologic technology program, BLS certification, and may need bone density certification within six months. The department emphasizes high-quality imaging and patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire.
• Bone Density Certification may be required within 6 months of hire.
• Cardiographic Tech (CCI) or ARDMS or ARRT credential required before hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide mammography imaging services.
• Operate equipment and perform mammography procedures; position patients and select parameters.
• Explain procedures and educate patients about the role of regular mammography.
• Develop and evaluate film for density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
• Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure high-quality images are submitted to PACS with correct markers and data.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and report issues.
• Maintain a clean, orderly department including rooms and storage areas.
• May perform bone density scans using DEXA if applicable.
