Job summary

AdventHealth Oviedo, FL is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform quality breast imaging in a fast-paced radiology department. You will ensure patient safety, accuracy of exam results, and strict adherence to MQSA and ACR guidelines.

The role requires final image quality, efficient workflow, and collaboration with radiologists and the breast imaging team to deliver timely results. Position is closely aligned with hospital standards and patient-first care.

Qualifications

  • Requires Mammography knowledge and MQSA/ACR familiarity.
  • Ability to perform breast imaging in accordance with physician orders.
  • Competence with EMR/PACS documentation and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes; assists with recalls and scheduling.
  • Supports breast center initiatives and accreditation activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification and time-out procedures.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in EMR and PACS.
  • Operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images while ensuring patient comfort.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and equipment is safe.
  • Performs daily QC checks as required by policy.

Job Description:

Schedule: PRN Shift: Day (United States of America) Address: 8000 Red Bug Lake Rd City: Oviedo State: Florida Postal Code: 32765

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]
  • Good organizational skills [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
  • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]

Pay Range:

$28.97 - $53.88
