Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a part-time Mammography Technologist to perform high-quality breast imaging in a busy center. You will collaborate with radiologists and the breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results.

Requirements include 1+ year of radiology experience, MQSA/ARRT certifications, and strong knowledge of PACS and imaging safety. Responsibilities cover patient care, documentation, and equipment QC within a QA-forward environment.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of radiology imaging experience.
  • Familiarity with mammography workflows and MQSA requirements.
  • Able to perform 2D/3D mammography exams with proper quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up, recalls, imaging coordination, and scheduling.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, accreditation prep, and QA activities.
  • Follows protocols for patient ID, consent, and time-out before exams.
  • Maintains EMR/PACS documentation and image quality.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and equipment is safe.

Job Description
  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]
  • Good organizational skills [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
  • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]

Pay Range

Pay Range: $32.85 - $61.10
