Job Summary:

The Mammographer performs diagnostic mammographic procedures in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services are delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Performs all mammographic procedures and views according to established department protocols.
  2. Performs all tasks associated with proper execution of mammographic examinations, including proper positioning, techniques, labeling, and documentation.
  3. Reviews radiographs for quality and accuracy.
  4. Ensures timely delivery of images to viewing areas or PACS system.
  5. Performs equipment cleaning and restocking.
  6. Demonstrates proper positioning and equipment knowledge.
  7. Participates in quality control and assurance initiatives.
  8. Accepts assignments positively and recognizes duties beyond routine tasks.
  9. Provides radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
  10. Demonstrates competency across age ranges from adult to geriatric.
  11. Explains procedures and considers patient comfort and emotional response.
  12. Provides education appropriate to patient's age and understanding.
  13. Performs RIS transactions accurately and timely.
  14. Performs equipment maintenance checks and reports malfunctions.
  15. Communicates effectively with hospital staff and physicians.
  16. Assists in scheduling and exchanges pertinent patient information.
  17. Contributes to a positive team environment and demonstrates flexibility.
