Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist on a per diem basis to perform Mam­mography exams and related clerical tasks. The role requires ARRT registration in Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography, and Massachusetts mammography licensure, with BLS prior to probation completion.

Schedule details include weekends with 8-hour shifts. Experience with HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems is essential; prior field experience is preferred.

• Assists in other areas/modality as needed.
• Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment.

Hiring Range: $31.20 - $56.16

Schedule Details: Monday through Friday, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)

Scheduled Hours: Per diem (days & early evenings), as needed on weekends, 8 hour shifts

Shift: 4 - Mixed Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Cost Center: 26000 - 3580 Mammography

Under general supervision and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Mammography Supervisor and the Radiologist, performs Mammography and related clerical service duties.

Major Responsibilities

• Operates Mammography Equipment and performs Mammography Exams; makes a psychological and physical assessment of each patient, making adjustments in the standard imaging procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age or condition using universal protocol and sterile techniques as necessary. Demonstrates breast self-examination if required.
• Records all pertinent breast history from the patient and notes any discomfort or medical complaint which could be of importance to the Radiologist.
• Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, and safety control. Accurately documents work in the HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
• Assists in other areas/modalities as needed.
• Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment (i.e., paddles, detectors, work area).

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• Registration in both Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a mammography technologist.
• BLS healthcare provider required before completion of 90 day probationary period.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

• Level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.

Preferred:

• Prior experience in the field.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
